This video was made in the Dunkerque vigie, the control tower of the port of Dunkerque, France, september 2004. As part of the "mapping radio acoustic space" residency, Trans-Cultural Mapping program. From 13 to 25 September 2004, musicians, media artists and radio-amateurs from the Trans-Cultural Mapping Initiative scaned the acoustic space of radio communications and tracked with radar the cargo traffic between Dover (UK) and Dunkerque (Fr). We had the opportunity to document in video the control tower of the port, and to go in operations on a tug boat. Thanks to La Plate-forme and Ellipse.
This video was presented in Nova-Gorica, Slovenia, during th Pixxelpoint Festival in december 2004 and as part of the Euro-nav video installation. It goes with the "Lowlands Glory" video that you will find in an earlier post.
